My top 10 TV shows and movies.

Everyone knows how hard it is to find something good to watch on Netflix. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's spent hours looking for something to watch. I have started movies and shows and ended them 10 minutes in because they didn't capture my attention. I have pretty high standards when it comes to like movies and TV shows, so not a lot impresses me. Which means if I suggest a show/movie it's a given that it is great.

Top 10 Television Shows

1. Once Upon a Time

An American fantasy drama that airs on ABC. Once Upon a Time is a spin-off series from Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. Once Upon a Time takes place in the fictional town of Storybrooke, Maine. The residents of the town are characters from many fairy tales and story books. They were transported to the real world without any memory of who they were before by the Evil Queen Regina who casted a powerful curse. There are seven seasons with 22-23 episodes per season and each episode is 42-43 minutes long. Netflix has all seasons available.

2. Jane the Virgin

An American satirical romantic comedy drama debuted on The CW. The show is an American adaptation of the Venezuelan telenovela, Juana la Virgen. Jane the Virgin takes place in Miami, Florida. The show centers around a working, catholic young Latina virgin, Jane Villanueva. She becomes pregnant after being accidentally artificially inseminated. The show commonly parodies Latin telenovelas. There are four seasons with 17-22 episodes per season and each episode is 40-42 minutes long. Netflix has all seasons available.

3. How to Get Away with Murder

An American drama aired on ABC. How to Get Away with Murder takes place in Philadelphia. How to Get Away with Murder stars Viola Davis as Annalise Keating, a lawyer and law professor at Middleton University. She and five of her students become entangled in the murder of her husband. There are five seasons with 15 episodes per seasons and each episode is 44 minutes long. Netflix has seasons 1-4 available, season five will be available on Netflix April 2019.

4. Scandal

An American political thriller. Scandal takes place in Washington D.C. and centers on Kerry Washington as Olivia Pope and her firm, Olivia Pope & Associates later referred to as OPA, staff. The show also centers around the staff at the White House. Olivia Pope is a very know “fixer” in D.C. and she is also known for her work on the presidential campaign of Fitzgerald Grant III, the President of the United States who is also Olivia’s main love interest. There are seven seasons with 7-22 episodes per season and each episode is 43 minutes long. Netflix has all seasons available.

5. Black Mirror

A British anthology science fiction. Black Mirror is a Netflix Original. No episode is the same, no episode features the same actors or characters, but they all examine modern society and the consequences on new technologies. Each episode takes place in either an alternate present or a near future. There are four seasons with 3-6 episodes per season and each episode is 41 minutes. Black Mirror also has an interactive film titled Bandersnatch (89 minutes) that allows you take control of the movie. Netflix has all seasons and the movie available.

6. BoJack Horseman

An American adult animated comedy-drama and a Netflix Original. Although this is an animated cartoon is not for children of young ages. The show takes place in Hollywood in an alternate universe where humans and animals live together. It’s about BoJack Horseman, a washed up star from a 90s sitcom. He attempts to make his big return to fame by writing an autobiography. BoJack Horseman has five seasons and has12 episodes per season and each episode is 26 minutes long. Netflix has all seasons and will release season 6 in the fall of 2019.

7. Stranger Things

An American science fiction-horror Netflix Original. The show is set in the 1980s in the fictional town Hawkins, Indiana. So far there are two seasons and each season focuses on different things. The show centers around the investigation of a missing boy in the middle of supernatural events happening around town. Stranger Things only has two seasons with 8-9 episodes per season and each episode is 42-62 minutes long. Netflix has all seasons and will release season 3 July 4, 2019.

8. The Get Down

An American musical drama Netflix Original. The show takes place in the South Bronx region of New York City in the late 1970s. The show follows the rise of disco and hip-hop through the eyes of a group of teenage boys. There is one season and a five-episode part two to the series. Netflix concluded the series after part two was released. Netflix has both seasons.

9. Santa Clarita Diet

An American horror-comedy Netflix Original. The show is set Santa Clarita, California. The series centers around suburban real estate agents Joel and Sheila Hammond. The couple and their daughter face several obstacles after Sheila is transformed into a human flesh eating zombie. There are two seasons with 10 episodes per season and each episode is 26-34 minutes long. Netflix has both seasons available.

10. F is for Family

An American adult animated sitcom Netflix Original. Although this is an animated cartoon is not for children of young ages. The show centers the Murphy family and is set back in the 1970s, when kids roamed freely and all that mattered to men was beer and TV. Frank Murphy works hard at a job he hates to provide for his family while his wife tries her hardest to be the parent society demands her to be. They both do their best to raise their three kids in a time where alcohol and drugs are healthy and kids didn’t have to be in until the street lights went out. There are three seasons with 6-10 episodes per season and each episode is 25-28 minutes long. Netflix has all three seasons available.
